JAKARTA: Capital Market and Financial Institution Watchdog (Bapepam-LK) urges investment manager to issue products targeting retail sector specifically by providing certain flexibility to investors to pay in.The capital market watchdog has sent a notification letter urging such notion to Indonesia Mutual Fund Manager Association (APRDI), said Head of Investment Management Bureau at Bapepam-LK, Djoko Hendratto.Hendratto expected the new products to enable investors to pay in its fund daily, weekly or monthly.Flexibility certainly will attract retail investor. They can invest anytime they have the money, he said last week.For mutual fund products issued by investment manager, investors are not able to pay in daily or weekly but monthly.If the nature of the product is daily, this product can target retail sector. Other product such as bonds valuing IDR1 billion are not affordable for retail sector, Djoko explained.According to him, Bapepam-LK does not only focus on the number of investment products to be managed by investment manager as it also seeks particular measure so that any investment product is also applicable and feasible for retail investor.To ease retail investors in collecting their fund daily or weekly, a partnership with banking industry is a must.We urge the establishment of products targeting retail sector merely to make investment is somehow down to earth. If capital market also consists of retail investor, then it will make our market stronger, he said.Initial reviewDjoko said that Bapepam-LK is about to review the new products issuance, so that he cannot yet ensure the exact period to issue those products.As matter of fact, investment management company is ready supposes the authority demanded them to issues retail-based products with flexibility in investment fund collection, said PT Trimegah Asset Management President Director, Denny Thaher.I believe any product with daily or weekly paying in will attract retail investor.
