JAKARTA: PT Pertamina will import 8.4 million barrels of subsidized fuel, 4.4 million barrels of diesel and 570,000 barrels of aviation fuel to secure the stockpiles of fuel during Ramadhan until Id al-Fitr.Vice Production Corporate Communication of Pertamina Mochamad Harun said on the other side Pertamina is still seeking the optimization of refinery output.However, additional import becomes inevitable in order to maintain the fuel stocks."For aviation fuel, we usually produce for our own stock, but this is intended to build up our stocks. The stock of fuel per July 27 recorded 1.258 million kiloliters (kl) for the next 17 days, diesel fuel for 19 days is 1.513 million (kl) and kerosene for 71 days is 473.5 kl.Fuel for transportation sector, Pertamina will release as many as 68,000 kl of subsidized fuel per day, or increase from usual stock of 62,000 kl per day.Meanwhile, for diesel fuel, including diesel fuel for transportation and industries which will be released as much as 77,000 kl per day or increased from 70,000 kl per day. Especially for diesel transportation, Pertamina will provide 33,000 kl per day from the usual 30,000 kl per day."We also ask for any gas stations to provide a minimum stock of 2 days, we have communicated it to Hiswana Migas. Thus, the availability of stock available to anticipate the dense traffic," he said.The sanctionIn addition, Pertamina said he would take over the management of gas stations that do not perform good maintenance in order to keep the resilience of fuel stocks during the fasting month and Id al-Fitr. Pertamina will also give strict punishment if there are mischievous gas stations."If there are mischievous gas stations, we will stop subsidized fuel sales and the gas stations will only be allowed to sell non-subsidized fuel, particularly in Kalimantan and Sumatra."
