JAKARTA: After recording two straight days new level high, Indonesian stocks declined because of profit taking by investors as well as external negative sentiments on concerns over debt ceiling in US.Indonesian shares decreased 0.04% or 1.86 points to 4,172.25 at the opening session lead by finance and miscellaneous industry shares. At the early trading, Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) continued with its losses. As of 9.42, JCI dropped 0.89%, or 37.29 points, to 4,136.82. JCI moved at the range of 4,125.94-4,172.25. About ten shares fell for every one share up. More than a half of the shares traded were unchanged.JCI decreased as the investors went for profit taking said Bagus Hananto, an analyst at PT PT Onix Capital Tbk.Commodities prices that posted losses overnight and for Rupiah that moves lower this morning may weigh down index as well, said Hananto.However, for some selected stocks, will likely be able to move in positive area following anticipation for first half earnings results and outlook for second half performance.The index decrease was mostly contributed by PT Astra International Tbk which had minus 8.04 points, followed by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk with minus 5.70 points, PT Bank Mandiri Tbk minus 4.05 points and PT United Tractors Tbk minus 3.05 points.PT Capitalinc Investment Tbk was one of several stocks that supported the index with 0.28 point gain. Other positive movements are made by shares of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk 0.08 point, and PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk 0.05 point.BISNIS-27 Index, the index of 27 stocks launched by business daily newspaper dubbed Bisnis Indonesia, fell 1.20% or 4.36 points to 360.10. The index moved within range 358.72-364.18.From regional market, Nikkei 225 fell 1.12% to 9,935.07, Hang Seng shrank 1.26% to 22,264.26, Shanghai SE slumped 1.04% to 2,694.99, Kospi dropped 0.85% to 2,155.24 and Straits Times decreased 0.72% to 3,170.71.The MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell 1.34% to 878.08. The rupiah decreased 0.26% at IDR8,509 per US dollar. (msw)
