BALIKPAPAN: Total E&P Indonesia will begin the drilling activity in South Mahakam Offshore in mid 2012 following its effort to increase oil and gas production in East Kalimantan.The company continues to intensify its exploration in new wells in order to increase oil and gas production as the target set by government, Total E&P Executive Vice President Hardy Pramono.We will start drilling in South Mahakam in June-July 2012 and also build platform and rig in that area, he said after opening the Supply Chain Communication Forum 2011, yesterday.South Mahakam Block is expected to provide 350 million Million Metric Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMscfd) or 70,000 barrel oil equivalent per day (boepd). The offshore block is located 80 kilometer from Delta Mahakam.The company also continues to develop existing fields such as Tunu 11 and Tunu 12 located in Mahakam Block.This development will continue and becomes collective challenge since there are other stakeholders including increased mining business. How to improve coordination with them in the future is the challenge, he said.Total E&P operational performance ran well throughout 2010 with production of 552,000 boepd. It expects to reach around 526,000 boepd this year.Increases productionThe companys gas production from old Bekapai field increased to 50 MMscfd or 20,000 boepd last year from 20 MMscfd using debottlenecking strategy.The development enables us to continue drilling in Bekapai field. It provides one additional production to stream gas from Bekapai to Bontang, he said.The production of 552,000 boepd throughout 2010 was achieved with the support from 23,000 employees involved in operational activity including the vendors and suppliers.Total E&P Indonesia held another Supply Chain Communication Forum (SCCF) attended by 400 business partners to support the achievement of operational performance next years.Such forum is important to show companys achievement in 2010 to its business partners and evaluation for future improvement.
